PRESS
RELEASE
Located in the midst of
the Highlands club district, the Riddle Gallery is proud to be serving the
culturally energetic and diverse inhabitants of Intown Atlanta.
The Riddle Gallery has
opened at 842 North Highland Ave. This part of the Highlands is the heart
of the club district running three blocks north of Ponce de Leon Ave with
the likes of Blind Willies, the Dark Horse, and Atkins Park as next door
neighbors to the Riddle Gallery. It is the intention of the Gallery
to offer eclectic arts to this very eclectic and diverse community with
fine art offerings from local artists - both established and select
emerging artists.
Through Fall 2006, Riddle
Gallery will feature the original art of Shijun and Masa, both
transplanted to Atlanta from very different beginnings. Shijun is from
Quangdong Province, China; now living in Atlanta for these past five years.
Academically trained in Asian and Western techniques, this evocative young
artist combines a twining of European styles with Asian sensibilities.
Acclaimed in his native Japan, Masa created works of Art that
resounded in the Art circles of Tokyo
and crossed the ocean to L.A, Detroit, and so to Atlanta where he now makes his home.
"Watanabe's...art has real strenth - it is definitely statement art."
[Detroit Free Press]
There will be selections
from the national/international art community; such as;
Teifeng Jiang; Sunol Alvar; and Atlanta’s own Latrelle Dubose. Prominent as well as select emerging local artists;J.Rennick, Masa, Shijun, Gail Williams, Mo Yungai, MK Powell, Aiva, Walt Riddle, Scott O'Neil, Joan Byne, Don Belteau, et al. A thoughtful
